What is Love? Truly?

What is love? Truly? What does it look like? Can you see it? Where is it?

These are just some of the questions that skim the surface of love. How do we even know where to begin. My husband and I celebrated our 11th wedding anniversary on the 27th of November (thus the selfie of us). That is a lot of years to be together and is a continuous learning experience. Our love is true, caring, compassionate, and sincere. Marriage is one great big love learning experience that never is done. I continue to learn new things and have a continuous improvement each and every day. I can see love every day in my husband in many qualities. It looks like that feeling, once you know, you know it’s there. It cannot be explained, or shown where it is, it just is.

Eckhart Tole ~ “Love is a state of Being. Your love is not outside; it is deep within you. You can never lose it, and it cannot leave you. It is not dependent on some other body, some external form. In the stillness of your presence, you can feel your own formless and timeless reality as the unmanifested life that animates your physical form. You can then feel the same life deep within every other human and every other creature. You look beyond the veil of form and separation. This is the realization of oneness. This is love.”

I think all religions that are in the world are based on love. It doesn’t matter which you believe in, they all are about loving God/Source/Spirit and loving each other.

Love may be just a word but true actions are guaranteed. Love’s definition in Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary states “: a feeling of strong or constant affection for a person, : attraction that includes sexual desire : the strong affection felt by people who have a romantic relationship, : a person you love in a romantic way.” That’s just it, love is in everything, it’s a feeling and draws you deep inside to be connected to God and see everything else connected as well. 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.” Famous bible verse that is still used at weddings and anniversaries (including my own) because of its powerful teaching/message. After reading this, what is love? This, I think, is the definition of unconditional love and tells us how to use it towards ourselves and others. 

This is just the beginning of researching what love is. I will be updating this or writing new articles on information that I find but for now this is enough to digest and really look deep within yourself and answer the question from what you’ve read and experienced in your life.
